Preview

A gas leak has occurred in the Thesead Mines, making Chief Clight and his crew unable to mine down there. Only you and the mascot of the Thesead mining crew can stop it, although the mines may prove to be a more difficult task...

Stage 1

» Find out what's happening at the Thesead coal mine at [677, 78, -5017].

File:Daffyd.pngFile:Micho.png

  • Daffyd: Phew... Everyone make it out alright? That was...one hell of a sprint. I'm absolutely knackered.
  • Micho: I'm not sure, mate. I left a bunch of my stuff down there. Who knows if I'll get it back.
  • Daffyd: Forget about that, what are we gonna tell the chief? That chopsy old fool is gonna kill us if he sees us not working.
  • Daffyd: Oi, you! Listen, there was some kind of explosion down in the mines. We're not sure what it is or where it came from, but it surely didn't sound good.
  • Daffyd: The four of us were the only blokes down in the mines, so everyone should be out safely. But I reckon we can't go back if the issue isn't resolved.
  • Daffyd: You must go to the chief and tell him about the situation. Head down this mineshaft and turn left, and he should be there.
  • Daffyd: Just, uh... Make sure not to mention us by name. Now, if you'll excuse us, we'll...be on our way.

Stage 2

» Turn left from the mine's entrance and speak to the chief at [734, 104, -4996].

File:ChiefClight.pngFile:CoalMiner.png

  • Chief Clight: That's right, keep it moving! The whole of Thesead is going to run out of coal at this pace!
  • Chief Clight: Eh? What do you want? Only registered miners are allowed beyond this point. Speak up or get off the premises.
  • Chief Clight: ...An explosion? In the mines? Just now?
  • Chief Clight: EMERGENCY BREAK TIME, YOU GERBILS! EVERYONE COME AND MEET ME BY THE ENTRANCE! NOW!!!
  • Chief Clight: Alright, you lot better listen bloody carefully. An explosion has been reported in the mines. You all know what that means, yes?
  • Coal Miner: Early dismissal?
  • Coal Miner: Month-long vacation?
  • Coal Miner: Paid leave?!
  • Coal Miner: ...Am I getting fired?
  • Chief Clight: No, you bunch of ingrates! One of you needs to take the ol' canary down to the mines and see whatever the hell's going on.
  • Chief Clight: Now, which one of you blokes would be willing to-
  • Coal Miners: NOT IT!
  • Chief Clight: Right then. I guess that leaves you, young lad. What do you say? Want a job?
    • [1] I'm in!
      • Chief Clight: Very good! Come on then, let me introduce you to our little feathered mascot.
    • [2] No thanks.
      • Chief Clight: You sure? I'll pay a lot, and it won't be dangerous. Even if it is, you've got all that armor on you!
        • [1] You're right. I'll do it.
          • Chief Clight: That's the spirit! Come on then, let me introduce you to our little feathered mascot.
        • [2] Still no.
          • Chief Clight: You'll get a bloody mountain of emeralds, god damn it! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! Do you want it or not?
            • [1] Okay, fine.
              • Chief Clight: Good. Now, hurry up and follow me.
            • [2] No, I don't care.
              • Chief Clight: You know what? This is ridiculous. The whole of Thesead is at danger, and you're playing games with ME?! I know you can do it. Follow me. Now.
    • [3] ...
      • Chief Clight: Scared speechless, eh? Don't worry, it'll be an easy job. Come on, follow me to the canary's cage.
  • Chief Clight: Meet our canary! She's such a beaut.
  • Chief Clight: You see, whenever we hear news of an explosion we always bring our canary with us to check it out. They can detect potential gases much earlier than we can.
  • Chief Clight: Let me just get the key and-
  • Chief Clight: WAIT, WHAT? WHERE'S THE BLOODY KEY? WHICH ONE OF YOUR LOT IS RESPONSIBLE?! I SWEAR I'M GONNA...
  • Chief Clight: ...Listen up, lad. Take this toothpick I've been chewing on. I need you to pick the cage's lock. It's a little wet, but it should do the trick. Understood? Good, now hurry up!
  • [+1 Chewed-up Toothpick]

Stage 3

» Unlock the canary's cage at [737, 102, -5012]

Right-clicking the Canary's cage will start a minigame where you must left-click the toothpick when the icon in the center of the screen flashes yellow. There will be 3 rounds, and you are given 5 opportunities to fail. If you fail 5 times, you start back at Round 1.

File:ChiefClight.png

  • Chief Clight: Doing just fine, lad. Almost there...
  • Chief Clight: Little old birdie is getting quite excited! Keep it up.
  • Chief Clight: Right then, lad! It's time to begin the-
  • Chief Clight: OW! Bloody hell! Those are some freakishly sharp claws! What are you playing at-
  • Chief Clight: Well, I think she likes you, lad. Doesn't like me, apparently.
  • Chief Clight: I was going to feed her, but I suppose you can do the honors. Or not, seeing as she's been particularly troublesome...
  • Chief Clight: Anyway, do as you please. I'll be waiting by the elevator in the mineshaft. Hurry up, and don't make me wait!

You can feed the Canary after this stage.

Stage 4

» Head to the mine elevator at [670, 78, -4982].

File:ChiefClight.png

  • Chief Clight: Right then, lad! I suppose you might want to know more about this job.
  • Chief Clight: As I said before, when unknown explosions occur in the mines, that's usually a sign that something bad happened.
  • Chief Clight: Most of the time, an awfully putrid gas appears. This is where our canary comes in. Once she verifies that a gas is present, we decide whether or not to temporarily close the mine.
  • Chief Clight: I presume you met Daffyd and his group, correct? Thankfully, they were the only ones down in the mines.
  • Chief Clight: ...Wait, where the hell even are they? Did I not tell them to...
  • Chief Clight: Eh, doesn't matter. Lad, point is, I want you to check whether the gas is still there, if at all.
  • Chief Clight: We'll use the elevator behind me to get down to the mines. Just let me pull this here lever to activate it...
  • Chief Clight: ...WHY ISN'T THIS BLOODY CONTRAPTION WORKING??! WORK, WORK, GOD DAMN IT!!
  • Chief Clight: Must've been Daffyd and his group... No worries, lad. I've got, uh... a last resort, so to speak.
  • Chief Clight: You'll need to ride a minecart down into the mines. Thing is, we haven't used them to transport people in...years.
  • Chief Clight: Why? Erm, well... See for yourself.
  • [+1 Gear Stick]
  • Chief Clight: Our transporter minecarts are manual. Miners around here prefer automatic.
  • Chief Clight: For you, it should be no issue controlling it. There's instructions attached to the gear stick.
  • Chief Clight: Now then, go into the mineshaft, following the rails behind me. You'll be able to summon a minecart there.

Stage 5

» Use the rails to get to the gas leakage.

In the mineshafts, there will be a section where you control a minecart. Right-click while holding the Gear Stick to Speed Up, Left-click to jump, and hold Right-click while in the air to Glide. There will be 3 sections, and if you fail on a section too much, you will be given the option to skip the section.

Secrets

  • Page 1 is located right at the start of the minecart section, jump and glide to the right to end up on a hanging rail, which you need to ride up to get the secret.
  • Page 2 is located after you land the big drop, do not continue forward, but rather, go backward on the track to end up in a corridor with the secret.

Stage 6

» Follow the rail tracks and find a way to escape the mine

You and the Canary will arrive at this section, while you and the Canary take damage, until eventually, the Canary dies.

  • It seems that your spells are severely weakened by the gas. You should follow the rail tracks to find a way out of the mine.
Your mind begins to feel numb...

This section is a mining section, and you are unable to use spells. To start mining, you need to get an
Old Drill located atop a wooden platform in the starting section. You need to hold right-click on cobblestone to break it.
Lit Torches will also be available near the coal crates opposite of the Old Drill in batches of 8.

You are overwhelmed with pain...

In the room at -14372, 6123, you can get some
TNT in batches in 5, alonside some
Flint and Steel. You can place the TNT and then ignite it with the Flint and Steel to ignite the TNT, which can break dark cobblestone, but can only be placed on the ground. To escape this section, you need to look for 6 levers. The locations of each lever are as follows:

  • -14372, 6158
  • -14382, 6147
  • -14372, 6134
  • -14361, 6121
  • -14366, 6092
  • -14409, 6103

When you flick all of the levers, the following dialogue plays:

  • You hear a door opening in the distance...

Secrets

  • Swim up the waterfall at -14389, 6175 to end up in an opening where Page 48 will be.
  • There will be an open space at -14371, 6147 which has a chest, containing Page 97, alongside various Ingredients and Emeralds.
  • There will be an open space at -14390, 6146 which has a chest, containing Page 285, alongside various Ingredients and Emeralds.
  • There will be an open space at -14364, 6133 which has a chest, containing Page 324, alongside various Ingredients and Emeralds.
  • There will be an open space at -14394, 6121 which has a chest, containing Page 325, alongside various Ingredients and Emeralds.
  • There will be an open space at -14381, 6095 which has a chest, containing Page 326, alongside various Ingredients and Emeralds.

Stage 7

» Continue further in the mine to find a way out.

After flicking all of the levers and opening the door, you will be in a maze of mineshafts, still unable to use spells.

  • Otherworldly voices linger around you...

There will be several moments where you are blinded, and after flashing several times while having a nauseating aura, the Canary jumpscares you.

Canary(Jumpscare)

  • Canary: Hello.
  • Canary: Forgive my interference.
  • Canary: I am but a figment of your imagination. To you, I am not real.
  • Canary: The mysterious force that brought death upon me... It changed me.
  • Canary: So too will it change you. I will make that happen. Just for you.
  • Canary: No need to thank me. It is the least I can do.
  • Canary: Moments like these are cherished. Savor the moment with me. Would you like to die with me?
    • [1] No, I won't go that easily.
      • Canary: I see. So you want to make this an unforgettable experience. I appreciate the thoughtfulness.
      • Canary: Let's have some fun.
    • [2] Yes, but make it quick...
      • Canary: I was hoping we could stay for a little longer. If that is your choice, then so be it.
      • Canary: See you on the other side.

After going through the dialogue, you will die without losing any Soul Points, respawning in Thesead.

      • To return to your previous point, go back into the mineshaft at [679, 78, -4977].
    • [3] Yes, but lets do it slowly.

You will progressively take damage as the conversation goes on.

      • Canary: I would be more than glad to. Sit back and relax.
      • Canary: How was your day today?
      • Canary: Mine could have been better. Cramped up in a cage all day, then suddenly witnessing my death in front of an incompetent human.
      • Canary: You couldn't even save me. How pathetic.
      • Canary: So, anyway, do you come here often?
      • Canary: Oh, wait. This is your first time. As well as your last time. That's very poetic. Do you want to become a poet?
      • Canary: I know a good poem. Want to hear it?
        • Soul Points are full:
          • Canary: You don't die often,
          • Canary: You have maximum soul points,
          • Canary: That's about to change.
        • Missing at least 1 Soul Point:
          • Canary: You mess up sometimes,
          • Canary: Mistakes are part of Life,
          • Canary: Death is a part too.
        • Soul Points are below half:
          • Canary: Your soul points are low,
          • Canary: You will lose a lot of things,
          • Canary: Better not get killed.
        • Professions low level:
          • Canary: You're a casual,
          • Canary: You likely hate professions,
          • Canary: At least you're with me.
        • Professions tested with all over 100: (exact requirements unknown.)
          • Canary: You are well-rounded,
          • Canary: You are skilled at everything,
          • Canary: The jack of all trades.
        • Max Combat Level:
          • Canary: Your level is maxed,
          • Canary: You spend hours getting that,
          • Canary: Don't know why you're here.
        • Max Professions Level:
          • Canary: You love professions,
          • Canary: Love that cannot be defined,
          • Canary: Please go take a break.
        • Otherwise:
          • Canary: You are average,
          • Canary: The most average Joe I've seen,
          • Canary: What more can I say.
      • Canary: How was that? It was beautiful, wasn't it?
      • Canary: Silence is bliss. You must not have very many friends.
      • Canary: That's okay. I am your friend. Am I your friend? Please say yes. I'm very lonely.
      • Canary: I had friends too, once. They were all taken by a bunch of selfish coal miners. Then died to their incompetence.
      • Canary: But you are different. You are not like the others. I like you. I love you. I love you so much.
      • Canary: Love is patient.
      • Canary: Love is kind.
      • Canary: Love does not envy.
      • Canary: Love does not boast.
      • Canary: Love is not arrogant.
      • Canary: Love is not rude.
      • Canary: Love is not irritable.
      • Canary: Love is not resentful.
      • Canary: Ḯ̸̫̦͘t bears a̴̝̚ll thin̶̹͒̄ͅgs.
      • Canary: I̷͚͈̋̑t̵̏͂ͅ hopes a̸̯̔l̸̛̠͉l thin̶̹͒̄ͅg̶̙̣͂s̷̲͎͐.̵̫̿̆
      • Canary: I̷͚͈̋̑t̵̏͂ͅ endures a̶̗̍l̷̡̢̚l̴̤͉̓ th̸͓͓́̓ì̸̠́n̸̡̖̽gs.
      • Canary: I̸͚̎̆t̶̳̼͌ ̷͕̀́í̷̙͂s̷͉̹͂ everlasting.
      • Canary: Goodbye.
      • To return to your previous point, go back into the mineshaft at [679, 78, -4977].

Coming back to the Canary will give the following dialogue:

  • Canary: Hello again.
  • Canary: I will give you another chance to redeem yourself.
  • Canary: So kindly, I will tell you again.

The prior options will be available.

Stage 8

» Fight the Canary.

  • Canary: Let's do a little warm-up, shall we?

During the Canary's fight, you will be unable to use spells.

In the first phase, several pellets will glide across the arena, and getting hit by one deals damage. After about 20 seconds, it will move on to the second phase.

  • Canary: Liked the dance party? Those moves were so utterly terrible, I may as well dub them 'The <playername>'.
  • Canary: Let's do something I like to call, 'The Canary'.

In phase 2, the Canary will start to attack you by sending pellets towards you, as well as gliding on the ground. To defeat the second phase, you must destroy all 8 Bizarre Monoliths. If you fall off of the arena, you will be bounced back onto it while the Canary says a line. As you damage the Bizarre Monoliths, the Canary will say several things:

  • Canary: Hands off those, if you would be so kind.
  • Canary: Amazing... That really hit different.

                                          • Canary: At least I'll be in your memories. Forever. And ever.
                                          • Canary: Goodbye.

If you refused to kill the Canary, the Canary will fly away in your mind.

  • ???: ...Hey! They're waking up!

You will then wake up in Thesead.

File:TheseadMiner.pngFile:ChiefClight.png

  • Thesead Miner: Keep performing CPR, they're almost awake!
  • Thesead Miner: No way! I actually did it! I saved their life!
  • Thesead Miner: We better get a raise for this!
  • Chief Clight: What the?! Who the hell let you in my house?
  • Thesead Miner: Boss! I can explain!
  • Chief Clight: No, you can't. Get outta here before I start lowering your salary.
  • Thesead Miner: But, boss! I saved-
  • Chief Clight: GO!!
  • Chief Clight: Well then, lad! Despite their incompetence, they still managed to save your skin.
  • Chief Clight: Come speak to me for a quick debriefing.

Stage 9

» Talk to Chief Clight.

  • Chief Clight: I sent my miners down to save you as soon as we felt that earthquake. It was so strong that I genuinely thought the world was ending.
  • Chief Clight: I'm jolly sorry for forcing you to take on this job. This whole situation was completely unexpected.
  • Chief Clight: Typically, gases are cleared up almost instantly. This time, however, it seemed to have been a lot more potent... But how?
  • Chief Clight: ...The Colossus. It stirs once more. That thing... It has already caused too much hardship for this area to handle.
  • Chief Clight: It must be destroyed, once and for all. How will that happen, I do not know. But you...
  • Chief Clight: ...No, it's nothing. Until that thing is dealt with, deeper parts of this mine must be closed down. The supply of coal will decrease, but it must be done.
  • Chief Clight: Tell you what, lad! I'll give you, and only you, permission to access parts of the mine, right where we mine our world-famous Thesead coal.
  • Chief Clight: Consider yourself a part-time Thesead coal miner. You've earned it, lad.

      • Canary: You can't escape your doom.

    • Thesead Coal Miner: Yeah, I really hate this job, man. That and the chief makes me pull my hair out... In fact, I already went bald because of it!
    • Thesead Coal Miner: Dude, the chief scares the crap out of me. I'm surprised that I still have this job. Looks like we might lose it if the mines ain't restored fast enough.
    • Thesead Coal Miner: I-I don't want to lose this job, man! I've got a wife and two goldfish!
    • Thesead Coal Miner: Easy, Ryan. We won't lose it. We're in this together. <playername> will take care of it.
    • Thesead Coal Miner: Our very lives are in your hands, soldier. Good luck, and be careful. The mines are quite treacherous even for people like you.

    • Thesead Miner: We had to use that blasted archaic minecart system because the elevator was still busted.
    • Thesead Miner: Everyone was exhausted from it. But just when all hope was seemingly lost, we found you laying on the ground.
    • Thesead Miner: You were violently twitching about, as if you were possessed by something. It was scary.
    • Thesead Miner: Whatever the effects of that gas are, we want absolutely none of it. I'm never stepping foot inside of that bloody mine ever again.
    • Thesead Miner: For the sake of our jobs and Thesead, the Colossus must be stopped.
