Chained Beast is the fifth boss of the Tower of Ascension, and is found at the top of Floor 5. It is a level 95 Zombie, and sports very high melee damage and a Charge spell, similar to the Guardian. When killed, it drops the "Crystal Shard [Floor 5 - Level 10]", given to the Floor Master to advance to Floor 5.

Appearance[]

Chained Beast is a mob with near-full diamond armor, with a cage as a head. It wields an earthy sledgehammer (for which the texture can be seen on certain obtainable spear-type weapons).

Location[]

Chained Beast is found at the top of Floor 5 of the Tower of Ascension.

Combat[]

The most notable feature of the Chained Beast is its extremely high melee damage - in similar vein to Argaddon and Guardian, it only has melee damage and should be played around as such. The charge spell can inflict quick damage on the player, and thus should be regarded carefully.

  • For mages, Ice Snake is again a very valuable spell, as it freezes the boss in place, disallowing melee damage. Once frozen, take the time to heal or dish out more damage with additional Ice Snakes or Meteors. Stay out of the boss' range at all times, as there is no reason whatsoever to be vulnerable to the boss' melee.
  • Archers should absolutely stay at a range, as the heavily focused melee nature of Chained Beast means that close spell play will not be viable. Be wary of the boss' Charge spell.
  • Warriors will have a tough time kiting/strafing Chained Beast, as the boss is quite fast. Utilize slowness-inflicting spells to keep the boss just out of range, as fighting melee v. melee will likely not end well.
  • Assassins can use Vanish to recuperate as no other mobs spawn, and Grade II spin attacks & smoke bombs (Obtained at Level 16 and 46 respectively) to slow the boss considerably, doing effective air damage and opening him up for additional spells.

Overall, like some ToA bosses beforehand, this boss' simplistic melee fighting pattern should make strategizing quite easy for the player. However, this boss should ABSOLUTELY NOT BE UNDERESTIMATED.
