Dungeons are especially in need of updating as we have no information on the Elemental Dungeons. --Moe_Ronickah (talk) 10:31, 6 May 2016 (EST)

Questguides: some quests could use guides, i.e. House of Twain. Just add a Walkthrough section or use spoiler tags? What do you guys think? --Adrenalynnn (talk) 03:55, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

Page Creation Reminders

Layout

Standardization
Just a quick note, before making pages about something look at similar pages and use the infobox and layout --Tama (talk) 07:16, 3 November 2013 (EST)

Creating new pages

Weapons

After speaking to Abyssal I discovered that we don't want pages for every single weapon, only those involved in quests. So don't create weapon or armour separate pages unless they are needed for quests. Thanks --AKTheKnight (talk) 18:34, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Content

Reliability of Content
Avoid adding information that you're unsure of to pages. If you feel that you need to add "correct me if I'm wrong" or "I'm not sure" to a fact you're writing, DON'T WRITE IT. --AbyssalMelody13 (talk) 18:18, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
Image Etiquette
While I'm still a little iffy about using official minecraft images for the mobs, I think it is a complete waste of space if we upload the same exact image for different pages. Like the image for Maltic's Recommendation letter and Scrolls. That's the same exact image, just duplicated. It's a waste of storage space.. Reuse the same image. Don't upload an entirely new, but same, image for each page created. --Rookirk (talk) 01:55, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
So seems there is another issue: Use the default texture pack. It would keep things very organized and consistent as well as people not saying, "What item is that"? (Hopefully no one uses texture packs like those to take pictures.) Also keep in mind, you can disable gui with F1 if you want to take landscape shots. If you are taking images of enemies or NPCs that need their nametag, set your gui to very small in the video options and take the image off to the side so that the cursor isn't on the subject. I hope the images improve after this... (Probably not)--Rookirk (talk) 19:30, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Just been exploring and I found this (Unused files). As the topic of files being re uploaded came up I was wondering if these pictures get deleted after a set time or if they are unneeded or something --AKTheKnight (talk) 17:52, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
Just adding: I solve the cursor problem of NPCs and Mobs by taking the picture without F1 mode, and editing the picture in a image editor (like Gimp or Paint). In combination with "very small" gui the cursor is not visible at all. Also, I suggest not to just upload the actual screenshot, but crop it around the subject of the picture. Hoped this help... NicDonalds (talk) 19:43, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
Alright, so now that there's an official resource pack, should we reupload images to reflect it? For example, upload the soul point texture as our new soul point thing. I feel like the models will be very hard to do, we'll need people who can make gifs that cycle through. Cloudaria (talk) 13:49, 23 January 2016 (EST)
This would be a question for the administrators, because they're really in charge of space. I think we should update to reflect the official resource pack since everyone has access to it. Besides I'm pretty sure spears are smooth sandstone blocks and that'd just be confusing. That being said, I agree we'll need people to make gifs and models to reflect these updates. I'd do it myself, but I have no experience with that sort of thing. --Colin350 (Talk) 12:29, 26 May 2016 (EST)
If anyone knows of a good program for making gifs, or of anyone on the forums who makes gifs, I would certainly like to know. A little plea for help can sometimes go a long ways. Moe Ronickah (talk) 06:55, 5 June 2016 (EDT)
So I was going through the Uncategorized Files page of the wiki... and well I think it should be standard that each image uploaded must have the name of the page it belongs to in the name. It's just annoying sorting through a bunch of images formatted as "SCREENSHOT" or a string of numbers. Frankly it would keep the wiki cleaner. Also, is it worth keeping gallery images or would it be worth removing them from the server for efficiency? -- Colin350 (Talk) 22:51, 29 May 2016 (EST)
I have been slowly going through those images and updating all of the poorly named images to ones that reflect what they actually are images of. It should be standard etiquette and common knowledge that any uploaded image must have a name that reflects what the image actually is and image of.Moe Ronickah (talk) 06:55, 5 June 2016 (EDT)
Gallery images are worth keeping as long as they're taken without shaders or a different texture packs, and they're not outdated (e.g. showing a build that has changed since then). There should be a limit of around five gallery images though, except in special cases like dungeons or quest areas which have many different rooms. And like you I discourage the use of default names for screenshots; all images on the wiki should be named according to their content. An exception could be made for gallery images, but the page title in the name would be nice of course. --Gr4phene (talk) 16:28, 30 May 2016 (EDT)

Conventions

Friendly Reminder
Make sure your grammar and spelling is correct! If you want to check if you have the right spelling and grammar go to http://www.Grammarly.com , then copy and paste your page into it then chose which way to check it then it will give you a list of thing to fix and how to fix it.--CptShroom (talk) 09:41, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
Links

After seeing several links that lead to pages in this wiki, I've seen that some of them aren't done efficiently. When putting links that lead to pages inside this wiki, use [[link|text]]. Notice the double brackets.

The 'link' section means that it will search for https://,/index.php?title=Link.

The 'text' part is what will appear on the page after editing.

For example [[Mythic|highest tiered item]] would search for https://,/index.php?title=Mythic and display 'highest tiered item' with the link, on the page. --Dar-krusos (talk) 03:20, 14 January 2016 (EST)

Grammar examples
Alright, hey guys! I have been noticing a few of you are making grammar issues, so I thought I would say some of them.
The first one is: After a comma you guys begin it with a capital letter. For example: "Maltic is a very small village, But contains good quests." Look at the word but, the letter B isn't supposed to be capitalized after a comma, only after a period, but a period wouldn't belong there. You know what I mean. :p
The next, and last one is: Spelling issues. Guys, we need this wiki to be easily understandable, not hard to read. An example was on the Haunted Mansion page, the person who edited it before me (not saying any names, I don't even know the name, didn't check) spelled which as "wich." So guys, just remember to check your grammar, spelling, and always preview the page first. Thank you for reading this! :D Goodbye! Branthecan, Level 71 Warrior (talk) 20:07, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
I agree. I know there's always going to be a mistake or two, but (<---) try your best to make this wiki look pleasing and readable. NicDonalds (talk) 23:46, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Wiki Suggestions

Templating

Character Template?
I've been working a lot at improving the NPCs category. To make it more standard, I think we should maybe come up with an organized way or template to do it. If we did this all NPC articles would be organized the same and look the same. NicDonalds (talk) 13:31, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Edit: I know there is an infobox, but I am talking about the NPC information in general. NicDonalds (talk) 18:37, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Added an optional coordinates field to the NPC Infobox to seperate location/coordinates. Before going through all pages to update them i think we definitely need a template or a standard layout, at least. Anyone want to help on that? --Adrenalynnn (talk) 08:09, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
Updated the coordinates for all quest NPCs and the images to "ok" status, at least. Still no idea about layout/template, on 95% of the NPC pages there is just not enough text to warrant any layout. Any other ideas are welcome! --Adrenalynnn (talk) 09:14, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
I'll try to flesh out the pages, if that'll help any. I'd suggest Lil's page as a good place to start, though. It's organized nicely, even if there isn't too much information. --Htmlman1 (talk) 17:15, 22 January 2015 (EST)
Page Template Category
In agreement with NicDonalds' suggestion, can we simply make a Page Templates category to house pages that are specifically meant to outline sections and infoboxes to be included in specific categories? For example, all NPCs should follow the Page Template:NPC page and all cities should follow the Page Template:City page. I've been working on cities and eventually will move to other locations attempting to standardize for more potential for information, and making a page template would mean any new pages that get added during my work would not have to be restructured. --Snickers10m (talk) 22:39, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Armour Skins

I'd like the armour skins to be included in the armour pages, would that be possible/wanted? If you agree, first there has to be a good way to make an image of them (screenshots would probably look ugly). Then the image should be included in the infobox, I think. What do you think? In my opinion it is an important piece of information that is missing right now. --Gr4phene (talk) 08:48, 21 January 2015 (EST)
It's a nice idea, but would be a lot of work. Also, an infobox image would probably need to be the inventory avatar, with a Steve skin wearing the item. The mouse pointer should be placed on his 'nose' to ensure he's looking forward. This image (which used to be on this wiki) shows the kind of thing I mean, although it's not a Steve skin. Jamdog (talk) 10:33, 21 January 2015 (EST)

External Link Problem Fix

I'm not sure if bug reports belong here, but there seems to be a problem that the wiki encounters when trying to save/create edits containing external links. It seems that the detection of one 'should' prompt the user to complete a CAPTCHA to prevent spam (or else the edit won't be submitted), but this prompt only appears in the "Edit Source" version of the editor. Trying to submit edits including external links via the visual editor will simply meet with an error message. Could you add the CAPTCHA to the visual editor version of the wiki somehow? (Of course it's possible to switch to "Edit Source", but it's slightly inconvenient. I'd understand if it wasn't possible, though.) --Htmlman1 (talk) 17:11, 22 January 2015 (EST)

Weapon Description Page ?

Hi, so... should there be a page or the legendary gear's description or something ? We could use something like a wikitable with the gear's name, the armor piece and the description. Or we could make pages for legendary gear with some of them having the lore but that would take more time. Please tell what you think about it. --Agent17 (talk) 10:51, 13 February 2016 (EST)

Skeletons Page ?

I have been working on making the pages for lower level quests easier to read, understand and use for players new to Wynncraft. This is a smaller suggestion, but I have noticed that many Skeletons that exist in the game aren't listed on the wiki, and cannot be searched up by people in dire need for information on them (such as the Rotting Skeletons that spawn in Ancient Nemract). I bring this up because I don't know of every Skeleton out there yet, and i'm sure that with everyone's help we can give the Skeletons the exposure and attention that they deserve. #skeletonlivesmatter. I myself am going to start working on making a page for the Rotting Skeletons. Thoughts? GreggZumbari (talk) 18:12, 8 July 2016 (EDT)

Wiki Messages

Miscellaneous Corrections

I was just looking through pages and I found this. So i am going to be trying to locate pictures if they exist or upload new ones if needed. Any help would be much appreciated --AKTheKnight (talk) 14:04, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Mainpage

The Rules and Wynncraft Staff pages are not yet linked to from anywhere. Both pages are quite important and I would suggest adding links to them directly on the Main Page. Is there any specific policy regarding the main page? Are we all allowed to edit it or whom should I ask first? --Adrenalynnn (talk) 10:24, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

We aren't able to edit the main page as it is protected. I have tried to ask Tama about it but he isn't responding. If I don't get a response by this evening I will try again. --AKTheKnight (talk) 10:38, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
Main page is protected for a good reason - imagine giving griefers access to that. I hate to bug Tama as well but unfortuantely the messaging system of writing on 'talk pages' is the best we have right now. If only Wynncraft staff kept up with the wiki... In a few days I'll find a few things for them to do on their side like cleaning out the 'Marked for deletion' and checking all these talk pages. --Snickers10m (talk) 02:08, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
I forgot to post that I had partially resolved this: Tama spoke to me for a bit but then seemed to be unwilling to talk to me further. After digging around I have found out that "AbyssalMelody13 is the lead administrator for the Wynncraft Wiki." So I have started up a dialogue with her about wiki things. I will send her a message now regarding this and we will see what happens. --AKTheKnight (talk) 19:59, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Newcomer's Guide

I hope that I did not step on any ones toes, I fixed some of the grammar in the newcomers guide and added a few new sections to it that would be helpful. Feel free to undo anything if you do not feel that it is appropriate. --Minerdot9r (talk) 17:33, 5, June 2014 (UTC)

Identification Page

I noticed that there is a sufficient lack of information on this page. There is a note that says "Of note is that identifications have a 30% variance rate upon identification. For example, a weapon with a listed Loot Bonus of 10, it can have a Loot Bonus as low as 7 or as high as 13 upon identification." but the base "rate" - as they put it - or value is nowhere to be found. I have no clue where to put this information as there are so many weapons to begin with, but I think that it is useful information for the public to have. Any suggestions? --JonesofJustice (talk) 23:26, 23 July 2014 (GMT)

The item base stats should be those that are listed on the official Wynncraft help/item-guide page. Not sure if all items are listed there. We should avoid creating a separate page for each item. One option would be to add the bonus stats to the Unique, Rare, Legendary pages. But not too sure about that, it might make those pages look overloaded with informations --Adrenalynnn (talk) 02:51, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
The full item list is on Dakota's Site and also on my own Items Page, both of which use the Wynncraft API to retrieve the data, so should always be up-to-date. Jamdog (talk) 01:03, 28 August 2014 (UTC) Last Edit: 00:31, 28 December 2014 (GMT)

List of Mobs

I just finished the Tower of Ascension mobs table that was totally a blank few days ago. I could not figure out what the shard they drop, as I was not able to check. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.--Sam0624 (talk) 02:30, 13, January 2015 (UTC)

Relic Article

The text for the section on 'Relic Shrines' is great, but I feel that it's extraneous to the content being discussed in the article. How would you guys feel about me moving it to its own page? --Htmlman1 (talk) 16:20, 21 January 2015 (EST)

Armour Merchants

There seems to be quite the confusion in the whole Set Armour/Armour Merchant thematic complex as to whether we should use British or American English. The pages contain lots of broken links too and stuff like that, so I'll get to fixing them today. I'd like to replace the word Armor with Armour in all cases, since it is named like that in game and the current usage is inconsistent. --Gr4phene (talk) 06:58, 7 February 2016 (EST)

I think redirection pages should be also made for the American English names Agent17 (talk) 07:41, 7 February 2016 (EST)
The change is done now, and BlahBlah161616 created redirects. --Gr4phene (talk) 07:38, 9 February 2016 (EST)

Mob Pages Project

We have a lot of mob pages that are now obsolete, and had been needing fixing. We deleted all of them, in order to start a clean slate, so that we would not be confused by which pages had been remade, and which were old. Unfortunately, with the problems with the resource pack that some players have been experiencing, our lead Wiki writer for this project, BlahBlah161616 , has had a very difficult time continuing the rewrites. Therefore, I'm asking that our Wiki Warriors (anyone who has asked for, and been granted, write access) please help us remake and update the mob pages. Please follow the format that is currently used, and please add in location directions, in the same way that Kepler_17c has done because it makes finding mobs so much easier.

The old mob images are in the Uncategorized Files pages on the Wiki. If they are still good, great, if not, grab new ones.

Thanks, in advance, for all of your assistance and hard work. --Moe Ronickah (talk) 16:17, 16 May 2016 (EDT)

So, regarding the Mob Infobox: It doesn't include the elemental stats (Def, Dam, Weak) added with 1.14. I personally feel that this is significant enough of an attribute to have its own space in the infobox, and I was considering implementing it myself (making it optional, of course). Would this be a wanted/necessary change?
I'm also wondering about other fields, too. Should we add an optional regeneration field? Should the damage field be made optional as well, as not all mobs deal damage and we're going to be creating pages for them? (same applies to Special Drops - not all mobs have them) With the AI system that has evolved over the years, should we add a field called AI Type that specifies method of attack (Melee or Ranged/Projectile) and/or hostility (Peaceful, Neutral, Hostile, or Defending), should we lump these parameters under the type field, or should we not include them at all?
Sorry for my barrage of questions and overthinking; I'm primarily concerned with the implementation of the element stats. --LavaCat (talk) 19:27, 25 May 2016 (EDT)
I think after the most recent update that it would be significant enough, and I'd agree you could implement it yourself making it optional. That being said, once we start doing this for some mobs, we should try and implement it in for all of them. That's another question: is it worth taking the time and does it matter enough by wiki users to have that information? I think it'd be a nice final touch, but would it be useful to the majority of the player base? I mean I use the wiki (as a player) solely for armor, weapon, quests (npcs & locations) and other locations. The only reason I'd look at the mob page would be if it drops something. But that's just me --Colin350 (Talk) 12:25, 26 May 2016 (EST)
You can implement these changes if you want, they sound like a good idea. For example in the pages I made for Aenara&friends, I had to write the element info in the text. A different approach I'm thinking of is making a standalone template for elemental damage or defense, similar to the Template:Location, and putting it in the text at the beginning of the page. You should also include the element icons in the template. You can copy the unicode symbols from the Elements page. --Gr4phene (talk) 15:22, 29 May 2016 (EDT)

NPC Pages Project

Most, if not all, NPC pages need a rework. The new format that seems to be following every page is the description of the NPC, and location.

Regarding each NPC image: Try to disable all particles/put particles to minimal to make the picture more visible and less obscured. It only makes the picture better and more pleasing to the eye. Thanks. --GlitchDoesMC (talk) 07:38, 27 May 2016 (EDT)

I agree– I've been going through and at least editing some of what we have so it doesn't look as scattered. It still only has location and imagery, but I think some need significant background description. Also all NPC photos should be updated to the Wynnpack graphics– and like Glitch said, we should disable particles.
That being said, when updating images if there is an image already present, upload a new version and not a whole new file to save some space and keep existing organization. --Colin350 (Talk) 12:52, 27 May 2016 (EST)
That never seems to work for me. I try to upload a new version of a file, and the old one still shows. I try to make it current but it only makes it messier. --GlitchDoesMC (talk) 17:18, 27 May 2016 (EDT)
Actually, I believe everybody has this problem, myself included. It usually takes a while - a few days maybe - for the new version of an image to settle in. In some cases, even after the old version is replaced it takes a lot longer for the new version to actually appear on pages that link to it. This can be fixed by either resizing the image on the page(s), re-editing the page(s), or just waiting a long time. So the solution to this is just patience. --LavaCat (talk) 18:54, 27 May 2016 (EDT)
It works, it just takes a few hours to update. If you take a look at Quartrons Eye.png, I uploaded and reverted a bunch of times because it kept showing the brown background even though I uploaded a replacement with the a transparent background (the image needs to be replaced again to a smaller size though). But after a few hours I came back and it updated. I think it has something to do with the server and it's currently a global issue for all editors. --Colin350 (Talk) 21:50, 27 May 2016 (EST)
Do not upload an image multiple times. Instead, wait for the server to update its cache. This is an asynchronous task to prevent the wiki from freezing everytime something is changed. Think about it, if you'd change a template that is used in 100 pages (e.g. in Wikipedia), you would freeze the server for a good time while it's updating the cache. That's why the image change is added to a waiting list to eventually be completed. Of course you can circumvent that by forcing a page update through an edit, or by using the dedicated purge action by attaching "&action=purge" to the URL. -Gr4phene (talk) 15:31, 29 May 2016 (EDT)
I haven't anymore, and realized after I did that that there must've been a waiting list. I also bolded what you said above so it stands out... But thank you for responding, it's good having a clearer understanding now. --Colin350 (Talk) 17:13, 29 May 2016 (EST)
I'm flexible- but in terms of the the NPC Pages, I think that having a "description" header is redundant. The reason I say that is because the first thing you read on a wiki page is it's description. So why have a "description header". If it's for formality I'd like to have that clarification, but if it's for no reason I think it'd clean up the page better if we didn't have as many un-needed headers. --User:Colin350 (Talk) 20:35, 04 June 2016 (EST)
