Dialogue

First Conversation

  • Orikal: Ahh, so nice to be able to relax now that the task is over...
  • Orikal: Oh, it's you! You're the soldier that helped me investigate the spikes near that village.
  • Orikal: Thank you again for your help with that. I'd have missed the festival if you hadn't helped out. Care to chat?

Orikal's dialogue options will appear with the last message.

Following Conversations

  • Orikal: Greetings once again, soldier. It's so nice to not be surrounded by people gone manic for a while.
  • Orikal: Was there something you wanted to talk about?
    • [1] What am I supposed to do with a corrupted potato?
      • Orikal: I- Um.
      • Orikal: Uh, you see, eheheh, that is...
      • Orikal: Er. It's, um, funny you should ask! I, uh...
      • Orikal: ...
      • Orikal: ...pass?
    • [2] How has your research been going?[1]
      • Orikal: Intriguing, dangerous, and infuriating all at once, as usual.
      • Orikal: I had suspected that the spikes were part of some kind of "root" system, and that knowledge on the Corruption had been lost somehow...
      • Orikal: See, they call the Nether basin of the Roots of Corruption. Most people assumed that was just to say, that's where it began, but that didn't seem right to me.
      • Orikal: I've since discovered- every single spike I have researched has reached deep, deep underground, and I have to surmise they connect directly to the Nether basin.
      • Orikal: Well, with exceptions regarding the ones created by Bak'al's destruction. Some of those stick out of house walls...
      • Orikal: But a little while ago, I got a letter from Colonel Gailard, stationed in the savannah, about a corrupt lava spring that cropped up.
      • Orikal: There, he cited the existence of something called a corrupted heart, which you destroyed!
      • Orikal: I've no clue what the difference could possibly be, or how it appeared without evidence of corruption spikes.
      • Orikal: Researching this is almost as maddening as the corruption heart itself, some days!
    • [3] That's an odd mask you're wearing.
      • Orikal: Ah, yes. The mask. Did you know you're the first one to comment on it?
      • Orikal: Well, that isn't true. I received some insults at the village over it. Something about a stinky bird... nevertheless.
      • Orikal: Since the exact nature of corruption is unknown, I figured I should take as many precautions as possible.
      • Orikal: For instance, what if it spread through miasmic spores? Other diseases do, as well as types of fungi.
      • Orikal: It's also stuffed with an herbal mix- mostly calming ones like chamomile so I can keep my head on straight while I work.
      • Orikal: At some point it just became more convenient to leave the mask on most of the time.
    • [4] Did you know your studies have been cited in schools?[2]
      • Orikal: Ah, yes, at that magic school, I believe? Ehm, what was it called again... Grookfeathers Academy?
      • Orikal: I was approached a while ago by them after I published some manuscripts about my findings.
      • Orikal: Hopefully they were able to decipher everything. I'll be the first to admit I can be impenetrably technical when talking about corruption.
    • [5] What do you know about the Corrupter of Worlds? [3]
      • Orikal: ...oh. Don't tell me you're getting sent by that pompous legend guard to- Wait, wha-
      • Orikal: You KILLED it?! Excuse me?!
      • Orikal: HOW?! Not strengthwise, there are plenty of strong soldiers and you certainly fit the bill, but! But!
      • Orikal: The Corrupter is one of the most volatile corruptive forces known to us! Even being in proximity to it should've rendered you mad!!
      • Orikal: It's so violently destructive that it's attacked other corrupted armies! It practically has its own BRAND of infection, and studying that is running me absolutely ragged!
      • Orikal: Wait, hold on, don't even tell me. Even just hearing that you were exposed to it at all is making me sick with worry. Don't say more.
    • [6] Just thought I'd say hello.
      • Orikal: Well, it's good to see you anyhow.
      • Orikal: Take care out there, will you?

Trivia

  • Orikal's mask is similar to a Plague Doctor mask. This may be because Orikal tries to cure the people infected with corruption similar to how plague doctor's tried to cure people infected by the plague.
  • In the quest The Order of the Grook, the teacher in the Corruption Magic Class mentions Orikal as a corruption expert from Nesaak.
