Hans is the starter NPC for the quest Realm of Light III - A Headless History. During the quest, he asks the player for help with figuring out what happened to Referick. When they figure out that it was Dullahan who stole Referick's soul, he suggests that the player enter's Dullahan's castle to try to stop him from stealing more people's souls.
